Signing Your Tax Return

Here at The Real Thiel, we use eSign functions within our 'XPM' (Xero Practice Management) software. This allows us to securely send you a digital copy of your tax return to review and then sign online. It can be a little tricky to navigate so we have these helpful instructions here.

Have we sent it to the right email?

If you are anything like Lauren, you have more than one email address!

If you have a Xero subscription, and use a specific email address to usually log into that Xero file, and if we've sent the tax return to a different email address, let us know (email: [email protected]) and we can update and resend. It works best if we send the tax return to the same email that you use to log into Xero.

Don't use Xero? No problem!

How to sign

When a non-Xero user receives an eSign agreement via email and click on the 'Review Documents' button in the email, they should be sent to a page to create a login. This page will ask for a password (mandatory) and mobile number (optional).

If however their email is on our system they will be sent to the eSign portal login page where they can log in with their Xero account.

If they don't remember the password, they can click on 'Forgot Password' and this should reset their password. After resetting their password they may be asked to start up a Xero organisation. They can ignore this go click on 'Review Documents' button in the agreement email again.

Having said that, we have seen cases where users are sent to the login page even if they don't have a Xero account with their email, and when they click on Forgot Password they are told there's no login set up for that email address.

In these cases, they can follow the steps below to create a login:

  1. Click on the 'Review Document' button in the agreement email
  2. Click on the "Try Xero for Free" link, enter in the name and the email address the agreement was sent to then click 'Get Started'.
  3. The user will receive a verification email to verify this new email address. Click on the link to verify and they will be asked to create a password.
  4. Once done, they will see a page to add an organisation. Ignore this page and go to http://portal.xero.com/ and they should see all esign agreements sent to the email address.
